Edward Jones - Financial Advisor: Andrea L. Yoder
*Program Investor*
Her Biggest Mentor at JCHS: Cliff Kaminsky - She was a band member and he always encouraged her to think bigger.

Our last speaker for the year and we ended on a high note!

With a double major in marketing and management, Andrea decided to go into the nonprofit world to start her career. She was always very involved in her church and it was important to her to work on things that matter. She enjoyed the nonprofit world, but ultimately wanted to continue to grow and seek other opportunities.

She applied to over 120 jobs; had a spreadsheet to track if she had an interview, sent a thank you card after, and if she received a rejection email so she could easily keep track of each application process. She warned the students that this part of looking for a job can be brutal, but to not take it personally and to know they will land on their feet somewhere.

After over 30 interviews, she eventually chose to be a financial advisor at Edward Jones. She realized that even though she was no longer in the nonprofit world, she could still use this job to better people's lives. She takes it very seriously that people trust her with their financial future.

She began her financial advising career knocking on doors in downtown St. Louis where her office was oringally located. She was working 6 days/70 hours a week. When she and her husband decided to start a family, she decided to move her office back home to Jerseyville.

When talking about her clients she said, "these are my people. I grew up here and I love helping people achieve their financial goals".

When you talk to Andrea you can tell she is a genuinely compassionate person.

Thank you so much for speaking with us and for being an investor in this program!
