Aerie's Resort & Winery + Alpine Coaster • JD Lorton
*Investor Level: Friend of CEO Program*
"My mom is the hardest working person I know." - JD Lorton

When you think of a rollercoaster you don't usually think of that being a peaceful experience. The Aeries Alpine Coaster is ride through a tree covered paradise with birds chirping and beauty all around. We even saw two deer while riding!

In 1998 when JD's parents Jeff & Sandy Lorton bought the property, none of the attractions, lodging, or restaurant building existed. The only thing that was there was the building that the winery is now in and it was previously a cottage home. Students are always inspired by this family's ability to dream something up and bring it to existence.

JD took us on a quick tour up top showing us the Terrace and even gave us a sneak peek of a new area they are working on to provide more attractions for their customers. They have over 60 overnight stay options.

The Aerie’s Coaster was the first one in the state of Illinois. Every car has a computer in it, making this coaster one of the safest amusement rides you can find. There were only five built in North America last year. This attraction is open all year. The pricing for all of their attractions are very reasonable for a day of adventures for the entire family!
JD not only is working in some capacity at Aerie’s seven days a week, but also coaches football in Calhoun. He truly loves what he does and it shows.

JD allowed students to ride the coaster multiple times and they were thrilled to say the least! Phil Tonsor, our bus driver for the day, rode the coaster too! Thank you Tonzr Tranzit for shuttling us around all day!

JD, thank you so much for speaking with us, your hospitality showing us around, and a BIG thank you for all of the coaster rides!
