Jerseyville Carpet & Furniture Galleries + Hazen + Hale Interiors

Jerrod Capps showed us around and talked to us about each aspect of his business.
His dad started the business in 1973 in Kampsville. His dad saw people installing carpet in his house and thought he could learn to do it. It has grown significantly since then.
In 1993, the business moved to Jerseyville. It was previously located across from Amoco in the old Ford Garage.

Jerrod went to SIUC and has a degree in communication. He worked five years in casino marketing and in 2006 he started in the family furniture business.

He talked about the durability of products such as Flexsteel furniture, SmartStrand carpet, and Mohawk laminate flooring. These brands are great at marketing the durability of their products.

Every year Jerrod attends the largest furniture marketing in the world to find the best products to bring back to Jersey County.

Fun Fact: The carpet used during shipping to protect tubing that you see used on NFL fields and at Top Golf comes from Jerseyville, IL.

Later in the morning, Ashleigh Hamilton of Hazen & Hale Interiors spoke to the students about how she works with Jerseyville Carpet & Furniture to give her clients the best. She saves her clients time by looking through all of the options and narrowing down their selections.

She worked in downtown Clayton and when she and her husband started a family she moved back home to Jersey County. She primarily has local clients, but she does travel as far as St. Louis occasionally. She is currently working on a theater room for a local family.

The students were able to see her process of matching flooring with cabinets and countertops to cohesively work together.

Thank you, Ashleigh, for setting up this business visit and showing us your design process! Jerrod, thank you for showing us around and giving us ideas for marketing individual businesses!

(Shoutout: CEO student - Becca Lacy - taking notes for this post while her mentor, Ashleigh spoke.)
